Honeymoon Day 1

Considering this is a blog about my life and my style, and I'm mainly just writing for myself right now, I'm going to start with recapping our Honeymoon.

As a quick catch up- Shawn and I have been dating since I was 14, if you do the math that's NINE years before we got married. We were married on June 27, 2015. I plan to do a full recap of the wedding once I have more pictures... So Honeymoon recap, let's go.

We flew out on the Wednesday after our wedding. We dropped the dogs off at Shawn's parents the night before we left. Early Wednesday morning, my mom dropped Shawn and I off at the airport.
Fedora Jean Jacket (old BP similar here) tshirt (old J.Crew Factory) Beach Pants (Lilly Pulitzer-old)

We arrived and were greeted by a huge crowd of people. UGH! I thought for sure we were going to miss our flight. In case you didn't know, there is a rule (maybe it's a law, I don't know how these things work) you have to be checked in at the ticket counter at least one hour before your flight for international flights. Our check in email from Southwest suggested arriving at least three hours before our flight, but Shawn said no way, and we arrived about two hours before. We waited in the longest line I've waited in at BWI to check our baggage. We finally arrived at the front of the line, only to be told "Oh, you're in the domestic line...you should be in the international line." EXCUSE ME? Since when is there more than one line? And why didn't anyone tell us this at the BEGINNING of the line?
Luckily, we were able to jump right to the front of the SHORT international check in line. We breezed through security (and were randomly selected for TSA precheck so we didn't even have to take our shoes off!) and were ready to get to the gate just a few minutes before boarding. We arrived at the gate, only to find out our flight had been delayed by 30 minutes, so we decided to get breakfast.

Finally it was time to board the plane. We took a direct flight from Baltimore to Nassau, Bahamas. It was a quick flight, just a little over two hours.

We arrived in Nassau, waited in another long line to go through customs (Island time is no joke, people move sooo slowly compared to Americans) and then we were finally ready to head to the resort. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready right away, but we went to a quick lunch while we waited.

We decided to stay at Sandals- we had heard awesome reviews, loved the idea of not having to pay for anything once we got there. We were not disappointed. We had a villa style room, which was awesome. We had a cute little backyard area, our own bar (hello all inclusive), and a king size bed.

We decided to just hang out at the pool and relax the first day. We met a really sweet couple who had gotten married at Sandals the week before we got married and were still living it up on their honeymoon. We decided to have dinner with them that night.

We went to the Italian restaurant on the resort- Casanova.  I had a Seafood pasta, Shawn ordered a steak and Chicken Parmesean. We have awesome Italian in Little Italy in Baltimore, so this was nothing compared to our usual Italian restaurants of choice. Casanova had an awesome antipasta bar- loads of salami, grilled veggies, mushrooms, etc. Either way, the food was okay and the company was great.

sorry for the grainy iPhone selfie picture

We didn't eat dinner until almost nine, so by the time we finished I was beat. There wasn't really anything going on at the resort that late, so Shawn and I decided to call it a night and went back to our room.

Check back in a little for day 2!

oh hi!

I have wanted to start a blog for a very long time, but I really don't know if anyone will care about what I have to say... But then I decided that it would be really awesome for me to have this place where I can look back and remember things that have happened in my life- big or small. I also have always had a sliiigghhht shopping addiction, and love sharing my style with others.

With this blog, I will try to track not only my outfits, but the ins and out of daily life as a new wife.
I'm going to start things off by introducing myself.

My name is Lizz Engle- well not officially, since I haven't gone and changed my name yet... but that's just details... I am an over user of exclamation points, an overspender, a happy dog mom and a high school teacher. I love my job, I love my family, and I love my life. I want to remember things and be able to look back. I honestly wish I would have started this blog when I wanted to in the past because I can't remember a single thing about planning our wedding, but such is life.

Welcome to my blog- let's see where this adventure takes us.
